Passed Without a Future: The public school paradox

A satirical novel exposing the reality of modern education and what it means for our children's future.

For decades, America's schools have been promised more funding, more technology, and more reforms. Yet student achievement continues to decline. What happened?

Passed Without a Future combines satire, storytelling, and real-world educational insight to reveal a system that often values appearances over learning and data over children.

Discover the story of America’s Last Teacher

The year is 2026...it is the Future

America’s last remaining teacher, Mr. Thacker, is on a mission to find others like him when he comes across you. Without any other options, he pleads with you to enter the machine and travel back to school as a student.

Once inside, you are taken on a journey through a day in the life of a student in America’s public schools, although things aren’t like the way you remembered them...

Instead of striving to make the students smarter, the schools are now in the business of making money off the children. Their new masters, Edtech™, have infiltrated the school and instead of being taught, $tudents are now plugged in to Programs that feed The District with the data it needs to keep its funding.

Each class you attend exposes more unbelievable truths about today’s education system, that you, nor any other adult has any idea about; Teachers have been replaced by mindless program Facilitators, the evil District sabotages learning to serve their new masters, the Administration, in the name of research, enforces policies that masquerade as learning and discipline, but worst of all the light has gone out of the eyes of all of the $tudents.

Grab your schedule and travel back...back to school. Get the answers to the questions no one has been able to solve. Who is this Mr. Thacker and what is this machine he’s sent you back in? What happened to all the teachers? Who controls our schools? Why can't our children learn?

Can you make it through your day back at school?

Through verifiable, documented results and a book that sheds a light on the real issues plaguing our public schools, award-winning math Teacher, Brett Thacker, is on a mission to save our public schools.

Real Teacher. Real Results.

School doesn’t have to be this hard. Not hard for the students, but for America. For too long our public education system has been failing. Those in charge outsource the potential solutions to Ph.Ds., EdTech and other charlatans who’ve never been in a classroom nor around kids. However, the outcome is always the same.

There is a solution to America’s education crisis, and they have been hiding in plane sight at the schools this whole time. They used to be called teachers. Now relegated to facilitating programs, these people once hired as teachers are the answer to our schools problems.

I’m sure you’re wondering why teachers haven’t come to the rescue already. I have been teaching for 13 years and in that time I never met a single teacher. Instead, I worked with Facilitators. Regurgitating the wares push onto them from those in charge, these former teachers never got to use their expertise and teach.

Through hard work, defiance and a little bit of luck, I slipped through the cracks and was able to TEACH. Positive student outcomes followed. Now it is up to use to set the rest of the teachers free. Help me bring back the profession of teaching. Help me save our students.

What makes a good teacher?

It’s not a trick question. We all know the answer.

Someone who makes students smarter.

However “smarter” is usually subjective or anecdotal when it comes to teaching and student outcomes.

Without real results, teachers have no power. We lack respect as professionals by the public and our employers. We are left facilitating whatever program or ideology is set down to us because we have no expertise or results to stand our ground behind.

But what happens when a teacher decides to stop getting pushed around and stands up for themself? What happens when that teacher uses their passion and expertise and teaches how they want?

The results will follow…

The Results…

Bio

Brett Thacker is an award-winning math TEACHER who specializes in making students smarter. Mr. Thacker is one of the last of his kind, a teacher who creates his own lessons, and whose results are backed up by the best test scores in the state of Nevada.

Brett’s journey into teaching started many years after he graduated college with a degree in Business Administration. Unfulfilled from jobs in retail management and liquor sales, he decided to realize a desire to teach so he enrolled in an alternate route to teaching program. Regrettably his main motivations were weekends, holidays and summers off, but soon he understood the significance and importance of dedicating his time and effort to teaching and improving the future of the students he served.

Through his 13 years of teaching, Mr. Thacker saw what was becoming of America’s education system and knew he had to do something about it. The book, Passed Without A Future, through satire and first hand experience, serves as a way for the public to see inside its schools from the perspectives of a student and a teacher.

You have been away for some time now and schools aren’t like you remember.

The children are our future and hopefully, together, we can give them the future they deserve.
